FTP Walkthrough using SmartFTP

If you do not already have the SmartFTP software, you can download it here.

  1. Open the SmartFTP program.
  2. Select the Settings option from the Tools menu.




  3. In the Settings menu, select Connection from the options at the left, then change the Mode under Data Connection from Passive Mode(PASV) to Active Mode(PORT). Then click OK. Note: You may need to disable any firewall software you have running before you will be able to connect.




  4. Enter your domain name, login, and password into the fields provided. It should look something like this:



  5. Click the Connect icon at the top left.




  6. You are now connected via FTP! If everything worked properly, your window should now look something like this:


    When uploading your files, place them into the www directory if you would like them to be visible on the web.
